Separate the measurement from its support
A thermometer measures temperature; a pH meter measures a different property. A thermowell or mounting set may help install a compatible probe but does not replace the instrument. Decide whether you need a loose glass thermometer, a removable rim clip or a fixed threaded port.
Match the actual vessel interface
The FERRODAY dial and Yosoo pocket both use nominal 1/2 NPT mounting connections, but that alone does not establish their complete fit to a vessel or probe. Check usable reach, wall arrangement and the probe bore where relevant. The mounting kit does not supply a threaded instrument stem.
Compare electrode formats and included supplies
The MW102’s separate probe arrangement differs from the PH20 pocket body. The PH20 sensor is not replaceable, while the PH100 has a replaceable flat electrode. Include the correct buffers and required storage supplies in the purchase plan instead of comparing the meter alone.
Follow the correct calibration and storage procedure
Apera distinguishes rinsing water from storage and specifies its long-term soaking solution. Extech describes a pH 4-soaked sponge in the cap, while Milwaukee specifies its electrode storage solution. Those are model-specific instructions, not a universal liquid recipe for every electrode.
Compare the job and the buying check
Thermometer World IN-025 Glass Brewing Thermometer
A spirit-filled glass thermometer with Celsius/Fahrenheit scales and an anti-roll end fitting.
Check: Use the actual immersion marking rather than the total length to position the thermometer.
CRBrewBeer 12-Inch Clip-On Dial Thermometers, Two Pack
Two independent dial thermometers with long stainless stems and kettle-rim clips, rather than threaded wall fittings.
Check: Check rim thickness, clip seating and actual liquid depth for the intended kettle.
FERRODAY Half-Inch NPT Kettle Dial Thermometer
A wall-port dial thermometer with a male 1/2 NPT connection, short probe and supplied sealing hardware.
Check: Match the actual port, thread, wall thickness and probe reach before selecting a fixed thermometer.
Milwaukee MW102 Portable pH Meter with Separate Probes
A portable pH meter with a separate SE220 electrode and temperature probe, rather than an all-in-one pocket tester.
Check: Compare separate replaceable probes with an integrated pocket tester when considering long-term maintenance.
Further questions
Does ATC remove the need for calibration?
No. Temperature compensation and calibration are different functions; follow the exact instrument’s calibration procedure.
Does 0.01 resolution mean±0.01 accuracy?
No. Resolution describes the displayed step. Compare the separate accuracy specification and its conditions for the actual model.
Can I use the same storage routine for all the pH probes?
Do not assume so. The models in this comparison have different maker instructions for their caps, solutions and storage periods.
