Airlocks & vessel parts
Match a closure to the actual vessel and job. An airlock, drilled stopper, solid lid, port cap and lid opener are separate parts; a shared gallon label or brand name does not make their interfaces interchangeable.
Buying advice & FAQ ↓Choosing airlocks & vessel parts
What changes the purchase?
Choose an airlock package and its stopper
FastRack offers two S-shaped airlocks with universal-style bungs or three cylindrical three-piece airlocks with Number 6.5 stoppers. Compare the supplied package and access for cleaning. The separate Number 10 stopper pack supplies six drilled bungs, not airlocks; check its top, bottom and hole dimensions against the intended opening.
Compare access lids and accessory ports
The solid FerMonster lid comes with an O-ring and has no airlock hole pictured. The FerMonster opener is specifically described for 6 and 7 gal carboys; its fit should not be generalized to every lid. Fermentology’s stretch-on silicone caps add two accessory ports with removable plugs for their stated glass-carboy family.
Keep Speidel part roles separate
FE787 is a gasketed port cap, FE780 a drilled stopper and FE781 an oversized airlock. The stopper and airlock are separate purchases. Compare the exact part reference and connection geometry rather than substituting a generic plumbing cap or assuming all Speidel openings are the same.
Questions before choosing
Does a stopper pack include the airlocks?
The Number 10 reference supplies six drilled stoppers only. The FastRack sets explicitly combine stoppers and airlocks.
Does the solid FerMonster lid add a fermentation vent?
No airlock hole is shown in that selected solid replacement lid. It is not the same part as a drilled lid or an airlock assembly.
Can I choose a cap by fermenter brand alone?
No. Identify whether you need the main lid, a port cap, a stopper or an airlock, then check the exact connection.
