Start with the task and working volume
Choose a fermentation vessel for its intended process and headroom, or a storage container for dispensing. Nominal size is not a guaranteed finished batch. The small glass jug has unresolved exact-volume fields, while the JIAWANSHUN full-capacity claim and marked line describe different levels.
Choose how you will reach and remove the contents
A wide-access bucket and a narrow-neck glass jug require different access arrangements. A spigot, a separate bottom sediment valve and a vessel without a tap also create different transfer plans. The VEVOR conical assembly is the reference with two distinct outlet roles; do not assume that feature on the clear bucket.
List closures and transfer parts separately
The small North Mountain jug includes two alternative closure types. The FastRack bucket needs a separate airlock, and the Home Brew Ohio two-vessel set does not establish a transfer pump. Check the exact bung, cap, hose and sampling requirements before treating a vessel purchase as a complete brewing kit.
Plan cleaning access and handling
Compare the vessel opening with the appropriate brush, not just gallon capacity. Daitouge’s supplied handles do not establish a tested full-load carrying rating. A neck handle, body cradle and molded vessel handle are different arrangements with their own instructions; none should be assumed compatible from a photograph alone.
Compare the job and the buying check
FastRack 6.5-Gallon Fermentation and Bottling Bucket with Spigot
A wide-access HDPE bucket supplied with a drilled lid and dispensing spigot, for fermentation or gravity bottling.
Check: Add an airlock according to the drilled-lid fitting if fermenting, rather than assuming one is in the box.
North Mountain Supply Small-Batch Glass Jug with Stopper, Airlock and Cap
A handled glass jug with a stopper-and-airlock arrangement plus a separate screw cap for appropriate storage.
Check: Choose by neck access as well as nominal size, particularly if you expect to add or remove larger solids.
Daitouge Wide-Mouth Glass Fermentation Jar with Carrying Handles
A large glass jar with a wide removable lid, airlock, steel carrying handles and a protective base sleeve.
Check: Choose for wide top access when a narrow jug neck would limit additions or removal of solids.
VEVOR DM-F300 Stainless Conical Fermenter
A nominal 30-litre stainless fermenter with a conical bottom, separate liquid and sediment outlets, and a dial thermometer.
Check: Choose by outlet arrangement: a separate bottom sediment valve serves a different role from a single bottling tap.
Further questions
Should I buy glass or plastic first?
Compare the actual opening, outlet, supplied closure and handling requirements. Material alone does not describe the complete working arrangement or establish a heat rating.
Does a second vessel mean a second airlock is included?
Not necessarily. The Home Brew Ohio set supports one bung and airlock in its selected package; compare the exact contents.
Can I add any tap with the same nominal size?
No universal fitting match is established. Confirm the vessel opening, fitting and seal arrangement for the actual parts.
