How this item fits your brewing setup

The PH20 puts the sensor and display in one pocket instrument, without separate probe cables. The display shows pH and temperature and indicates when the reading has stabilized. Choose this format for a compact testing kit when 0.1 pH resolution and declared±0.1 pH accuracy suit the measurement you need.

The selected Regular Kit includes pH 4.00 and 7.00 buffers, a lanyard, case and four AAA batteries. The meter supports one to three calibration points; the third buffer is a separate purchase. Apera starts calibration at pH 7.00 and uses the second buffer for the appropriate measurement range.

The measurement and ATC ranges are 0–50°C, while the manual advises avoiding samples above 113°F/45°C or below 41°F/5°C to reduce error and probe wear. Those are different specifications. Temperature compensation is not permission to place the tester into boiling wort.

The pH probe is non-replaceable, which matters when comparing long-term maintenance with an external-probe meter or a replaceable-tip stick. Apera specifies clean-water rinsing before and after tests and different storage arrangements for frequent use and periods longer than a month. Storage solution is a separate requirement from the two calibration buffers.

Advice for this reference

Before you choose

Choose the compact integrated format if its resolution and accuracy suit the task.

Also check

Consider the fixed probe and separate storage-solution requirement when comparing ownership and maintenance.

Documented use & care

Rinse the probe with clean water before and after tests, as Apera directs; do not rub the glass membrane.

For daily/weekly use, Apera specifies a moist cap or pH 4 buffer storage with the cap tightly closed.

For storage longer than one month, Apera specifies its 3 M KCl soaking solution in the probe cap to the fill line.

Do not store the probe immersed in pure water; the manual distinguishes rinsing water from storage solution.

Connections & scope

Fit and useful limits

  • No replaceable PH60-style probe, included pH 10.01 buffer, included storage-solution bottle or fixedprobe-life guarantee established.
  • No exact 21.8 cm instrument length, fixedfive-second reading time or 2000-hour life promise is relied on here.
  • No calibration-free use or hot-wort permission; currentmanual shield-specific dismantling steps are not transferred to an unverified supplied probe revision.

Questions about this product

What else should you know?

Are all three calibration buffers supplied?

The selected kit supplies pH 4.00 and 7.00. The manual identifies pH 10.01 as a separate purchase if needed for the intended calibration range.

Can I replace just the pH probe when it wears out?

The maker identifies the PH20 pH probe as non-replaceable. Compare an external-probe or replaceable-electrode model if that is a priority.

Can I use the rinse water for long-term storage?

No. Apera distinguishes clean-water rinsing from probe storage and specifies 3 M KCl solution for periods longer than a month.
