The equipment in use

How this item fits your brewing setup

The Tilt monitors from inside the fermenter, sending specific-gravity and temperature readings over Bluetooth. Choose it when following the trend without drawing a sample for every check is the missing function. It is a sensor, not a heater, cooler or automatic fermentation controller.

The selected offer declares specific-gravity accuracy of ±0.002 over 0.990–1.120 and temperature accuracy of ±1°F. Compare those limits with the changes you want to follow in your batch. Extra decimal places shown in an app do not imply a tighter accuracy specification.

Plan the receiver as part of the setup. Tilt’s maker says continuous cloud logging needs a compatible nearby device kept running with the app active; a phone is not included. Stainless fermenters reduce Bluetooth reach, so check the actual receiver position rather than assuming readings will cross every wall or vessel.

The selected unit is the black color designation for identifying it in the app, with a CR123A battery. The maker directs warm water and dish soap for cleaning and advises against scrubbing or prolonged PBW soaking. Compare a manual hydrometer kit if you prefer a sample-based reading without maintaining a wireless receiver and logging arrangement.

Before and during use

Advice for this reference

Before you choose

Check current app compatibility and the receiver location in the actual brewing space.

Also check

Compare wireless trend monitoring with a manual sample kit; a receiver and logging setup add separate requirements.

Documented use & care

The maker recommends warm water and dish soap for cleaning.

The maker recommends StarSan for sanitizing, without a dose supplied here.

Do not use a scrubber or soak in PBW for more than a few hours, as the maker warns about hairline cracking.

Connections & scope

Fit and useful limits

  • No direct Wi-Fi, included phone/TiltPi/repeater, universal wireless reach or automatic heating/cooling control established.
  • No fixed 12–24 month battery-life promise, generation-specific hardware, minimum phone OS, mass or pressure-use instructions transferred.
  • The 1°F UpperTemperatureRange field is an erroneous representation of accuracy, not an operating-temperature limit.

Questions about this product

What else should you know?

Can I leave with my phone and still guarantee continuous cloud records?

Not with that phone as the only receiver. The maker requires a nearby compatible device running the app for continuous posting; plan another supported receiver if needed.

Is the black model more accurate than the other colors?

The color identifies the device in the app. No improved accuracy from the black designation is established.

Will it control my fermentation heater?

It measures and transmits readings. A heater-control system is a separate arrangement and is not included in this selected sensor offer.
