A valved acrylic sampler that can also hold a separately purchased compatible hydrometer for a reading.

The equipment in use
The Fermtech Thief draws a liquid sample and holds it in the clear tube. Its practical difference from a plain transfer thief is that a suitable hydrometer can be inserted directly into the held sample. Choose it when that combined sampling-and-holding role is missing from your testing setup.
The maker specifies a 19 in acrylic tube. Hold it vertically for a reading so the hydrometer can float without sticking to the side. The release tip lets you empty the tube by gentle contact with the receiving vessel; it is not a hose fitting or a bottle-filling wand.
This selected offer supplies one Thief only. It does not include the hydrometer or the 19 in cleaning brush found in the Deluxe testing set. Compare that set if you need all three roles, and avoid duplicating the sampler if you already own the kit.
Fermtech directs use of a non-alcohol-based sanitizer and limits the sampler to 120°F/ 49°C. The selected care field also says hand wash only. Match those restrictions to the preparation process you use rather than assuming every clear sampling tube tolerates heat or alcohol-based cleaning.

Before and during use
Choose the sampler alone when a compatible hydrometer and cleaning equipment are already available.
Check hydrometer fit independently; tube length does not establish the diameter of every bulb it can accept.
Rinse/sanitize with a non-alcohol-based sanitizer, as Fermtech specifies.
Do not exceed 120°F/ 49°C, and avoid excessive force on the release pin.
Hand wash only, according to the selected care field.
Connections & scope
Questions about this product
No. It holds and releases a sample. A suitable measuring instrument is a separate part of the test.
No such connection or filling role is established. It is a sampling tool with a release tip, not a bottle-filling wand.
The kit already includes a Thief, hydrometer and brush. Choose the kit when those roles are all needed, or this standalone part when only the sampler is missing.
